British Columbia is the province where a well-planned set of boiler city hubs pays back most clearly, because so much demand sits in a cluster of separate municipalities around Vancouver. It is also our home market: Boiler.Network is based in Vancouver, and our GasBoilers.ca division for CANRO Heat covers 26+ BC communities. We market boiler businesses here; we don't install or service anything.
BC's boiler market and who searches
BC's heating mix is split between gas and electricity, which shapes what boiler buyers are comparing. Statistics Canada reports that in 2023, 42% of BC households relied on natural gas for their main heating system and 36% on electricity.
For a boiler site, that split means two audiences:
- Gas households replacing older boilers, or weighing a combi against a separate water heater
- Electric and heat-pump households asking whether a boiler makes sense at all
The largest population centres, including Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond and Coquitlam, sit within a short drive of each other but behave as separate search markets. People search "boiler repair Burnaby", not "boiler repair Lower Mainland". Kelowna, Abbotsford and Saanich add their own pockets of demand outside the core.
Climate and the publishing calendar
The province holds two heating climates. The southwest coast has mild, wet winters, while the Interior and the North run much colder and longer heating seasons.
That difference belongs in your content, not just your ad schedule:
- Coast pages can lead with efficiency, quiet operation and replacing tired older systems, since breakdowns are less often emergencies.
- Interior pages should lead with reliability and response times, because a failure in a Kelowna or Prince George cold snap is urgent.
- Publishing timing: we release new model and fault-code batches in late summer, so they are indexed before the first cold weeks bring search volume up.
Regulators to know
BC has a single technical safety authority for gas and boilers, which makes it easy to link consistently from every hub. Technical Safety BC oversees gas, boilers and pressure vessels among other technologies, and licenses gas contractors, although a handful of local governments issue some permits themselves.
Other bodies worth linking on an About or careers page:
- WorkSafeBC, for workplace safety and insurance
- SkilledTradesBC, which runs Skilled Trades Certification for trades including gasfitters and steamfitter/pipefitters
We link and summarise only. For what a job requires, your licensed staff and the regulator decide.
Programs relevant to boiler content, as of October 2026
BC's main home-energy programs lean toward heat pumps, so boiler pages should mention them accurately or not at all.
- The CleanBC Better Homes Energy Savings Program offers income-qualified rebates, mostly for heat pumps and envelope upgrades. New requirements apply to invoices dated 2026-07-06 or later, and some rebates were removed.
- The federal Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program has a BC agreement announced 2026-06-29, delivered through BC Hydro and FortisBC for lower-income households.
Programs change often. On any page that mentions them, we add an "as of" date and a line telling readers to confirm with the administrator.
How we'd build a BC page set
In BC we usually start with city hubs, then add model and fault-code pages for the brands your technicians service most.
- Map jobs by municipality for the last 12 to 24 months, using counts only.
- Qualify hubs where the work is regular. In the Lower Mainland that may be five to ten municipalities; in the Interior, one regional hub often covers several towns.
- Write each hub around local evidence: your jobs there, housing type, response time, and the link to Technical Safety BC.
- Add a model library once hubs are live, for the gas boilers and combis you install most.
The approach is set out in our multi-city hubs service, and the evidence behind it on the results page. For other provinces, return to the areas hub.
Frequently asked questions
Should a Lower Mainland installer have a page for every municipality?
Only for the municipalities where you do regular work and can show it. Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey might each qualify; a town you visit twice a year belongs inside the nearest hub instead.
Can boiler pages mention CleanBC rebates?
Carefully. As of October 2026, the Energy Savings Program focuses on heat pumps and envelope upgrades, with income levels and new rules for invoices from 2026-07-06. Link the program page and tell readers to confirm eligibility there.
Do you need to know BC gas rules to write our pages?
We link to Technical Safety BC and summarise its role, but we don't give compliance advice. Your licensed gas fitters remain the authority on what the work requires.
